This Stainless-steel grade is martensitic and hardened with precipitation. The alloy is having alloying elements such as nickel, copper, and chromium.
A precipitation hardening or PH stainless steel alloy, such as a 15-5 Ph Rod, is typically known to have strong corrosion resistance. It is common practice to heat treat PH alloys to enhance their tensile strengths, which can vary from 850 MPa to 1700 MPa, and yield strengths, which can range from 520 MPA to more than 1500 MPa. Stainless steel grade SS 15-4PH is martensitic and precipitation-hardened. The microstructures of UNS S15500 were created by the alloy through the remelting process. The alloy is designed to be more robust, and its toughness is reinforced through lower ferrite content and careful control of inclusion size and shape.
